A few years ago, I realized that our Easter celebrations were not as Christ-centered as we wanted them. We were focusing more on Easter egg hunts and Easter baskets than on the true meaning of Easter.

Making Resurrection Rolls is a tradition that our children request every year and I'm sure yours will, too!

WHAT IS A RESURRECTION ROLL?

What are resurrection rolls? A "Resurrection Roll" is not just a quick & delicious sweet roll that's perfect for Easter breakfast or dinner.

Each ingredient and step in making Resurrection cinnamon rolls resembles part of Christ being buried, and then being resurrected! SO fun and SO meaningful!

Instead of making a fancy breakfast for my family, we love making Empty Tomb Rolls for Easter breakfast. Of course, it's super fun being together and also reinforces the true meaning of Easter.

Empty Tomb crescent rolls are also a great treat or Easter week activity.

KID-FRIENDLY EASTER ACTIVITY

Yes! Kids will love doing this Easter activity. (And if yours are like mine, they will remember this for weeks after.)

It's easy to involve them during each step of this Easter recipe. And it will provide you with a chance to discuss the Resurrection!

This Easter activity is so easy that your children will even be able to make them on their own and retell the Easter story as they do it.

INGREDIENTS:

For one batch (8 rolls), you'll need the following ingredients. However, I highly recommend you making about 2 rolls per person. They are tasty and so fun to make. Everyone will want more than one!

• 1 can refrigerated crescent rolls (8 count)
• 8 large marshmallows
• ¼ cup melted butter, placed in a small bowl
• 2 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
• 2 Tbsp. white sugar
• Easter cupcake liners, optional

Directions

Wondering how to make resurrection rolls? This Easter rolls recipe is so easy kids can make them right along with you!

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a large baking sheet. Combine cinnamon and sugar into a small bowl.
2. For easy cleanup, place a disposable plastic table cloth on the counter or the table, wherever you'll be making the rolls.
3. Separate crescent rolls into triangles and give each person one.
4. Give each person a marshmallow.
5. Have each person dip their marshmallow into the melted butter.
6. Then dip the buttered the marshmallow into the cinnamon sugar.
7. Finally, wrap the coated marshmallow tightly into the crescent roll. Don't roll up like a traditional crescent roll, but bring up the sides to make a good, tight seal.
8. Repeat with all rolls. Optional: for easy cleanup, place each roll inside a muffin paper.
9. Place the rolls on a greased cooking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
10. When the rolls have cooled slightly, everyone can open their rolls (cloth) and discover that Jesus is no longer there, HE IS RISEN! (The roll is empty.)

What's fun about this Easter lesson is that each step of making these Resurrection Rolls is related to part of the Easter story, with the finale being that the tomb (roll) is empty at the very end.

My son was so shocked and told everyone about this Easter activity for weeks.

Crescent Roll=The crescent roll represents the cloth that Jesus was wrapped in after he died.

Marshmallow= The marshmallow represents Jesus' body.

Melted butter= The butter represents the oils of embalming.

Cinnamon sugar= The cinnamon sugar represents the spices used to anoint the body.

Wrapping the crescent roll= This represents the wrapping of Jesus' body.

Empty roll= The marshmallow will melt, leaving the roll empty. This signifies the empty tomb. Christ is Risen!

Tip: As you complete each step, discuss what each ingredient represents. After you have taught the first round, have your children teach what ingredient represents as they make their next roll
